Heat: Portraits of the Invisible World uses infrared thermography to capture portraits of those whose lives are most affected by visibility and invisibility.

Exhibition Title: Desert Forest: Life with Joshua Trees

September 7 – December 29, 2024.
Part of the Getty PST ART: Art & Science Collide.
Presented at the Museum of Art and History in Lancaster, California.

With a focus on climate change, development, wildfires, and other threats, the exhibition explores the symbiotic relationships between Joshua trees, soil fungi, and moth pollinators, engaging a diverse audience interested in arts and environmental issues. 

Opening Reception: September 7th, 2-4 PM.

The Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art is proud to present In Relation, an exhibition that touches on ideas around motherhood. Aware that no presentation of this subject can ever be definitive, the curation pushes back against restrictive interpretations and emphasizes the unexpected—from motherhood as a gigantic pan-species experience, to the deeply personal notion of “my mother” as represented by the details of an individual face.

This exhibit attempts to transport the viewer to a place where one is safe to feel, away from the present, by providing them with a window looking into other’s personal feelings of happiness, sadness, and nostalgia. Empathy becomes central to experiencing this exhibit, showing our own capacity to relate to other (unknown) beings.

This experiential installation reminds the viewer that change is required for personal growth, and that exploring one’s vulnerability is necessary for healing.

Pieces from the series Just Breathe were created during an Artist Residency at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL.  An exhibition of this work was later presented at the Mayo Clinic Humanities in Medicine Symposium, Jacksonville, FL. Two 18-panel installations were acquired as part of the Mayo Clinic’s permanent collection.
